Today we have launched our semi open source initiative (SOS).The philosophy behind SOS is to provide scientists with independent means to produce their own hyperdrive parts for electrophysiology recording in freely behaving rodents. The major problem with full open source methods is that there is no certainty that the person behind the maintenance of the open source platform will maintain or update it. There is no accountability. NeuroTek aims to provide the services necessary to maintain the parts of our SOS to make sure we keep scientists running experiments and not fussing with technology. With that said, the flip side is that we will supply hardware for various open source hyperdrives for a fee and will modify existing drawings for a developers fee. We also permit and encourage the customer to print their own hyperdrives (with our STL files) and to remove us as the middle man. We would like to establish a forum for design and scientific exchange with the mutual interest of developing ways to examine the brain. We hope you enjoy your experience with SOS.
