The NeuroTek miniature microdrive assembly is an ideal solution for the systematic isolation of neurons from the rodent brain. This assembly relies on a shuttle system which can drive electrodes to different depths within the brain. We will design a drive which specifically meets your needs. Drives can also be designed for combined drug delivery with cell recording, or to record from multiple brain regions. |
General specifications
Sensitivity | 120 or 160 threads/inch. Perfect for mice and rats. |
Composition | Can be made from a variety of materials, including PEEK and other materials used in stereolithography (please inquire). |
Motarizability | Models can be motorized on request. |
Actuation | Models can be modified for actuation at request. |
Manual drive | Manual turning is typically used with this drive. |
Backlash | Minimal backlash, when changing directions, especially for the 160 thread drive mechanism. |
Turn direction | Counter clockwise turns microelectrode into the brain. |
Electrode Interface Board | Handles mill max connector and Omnetics connector on request. EIB not shown. |
Tetrode vs single electrode |
Both can be used with this model. |
Stability on skull | Ring around the base with small holes to stabilize the drive on mouse or rat head. |
Setup | Requires stainless steel insert to guide the electodes and one collet to bundle the steel tubes at the base of the drive. Easier setup than conventional drives |
Reusability | Drive mechanisma are reusable, drive bodies are very economical and can be disposed of. |
Dual drive and customizability | We customize your drive for electrode spread and the number of brain locations you are interested in studying. |
